National Harbor is a new 7.3 million SF mixed-use project on the banks of the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  It has over a mile and a quarter of frontage on the Potomac and draws local, regional and national visitors.  Phase I of the project includes approximately 2,950 hotel rooms, 500,000 SF of conference center, 160,000 SF of office, a riverfront walkway, 290,000 SF of retail and 423 residential condominiums.  Future phases of National Harbor include the development of the 150,000 SF National Children’s Museum and a 600-room resort hotel by Disney plus additional residential, retail and office.  Its location on the river, extensive public plazas, walkways, sculptures and art bring thousands of visitors every week.  Each of the uses has its own unique parking and location requirements.

Our speakers have been involved in the planning and development of all of these uses.  They will address the planning of how best to integrate the uses and ensure that they thrive, support and complement the other uses.  They will also address optimal ways to integrate parking into the community and create shared-use regimes that meet demands of access and use.  The establishment and challenges of water taxi, bike trails and entertainment uses will also be discussed by the developers.
