Trees Virginia and the Virginia Department of Forestry are sponsoring a conference for those who wish to better understand how the benefits of the urban forest can be quantified, valued, and used to influence public policy. The conference also hopes to foster a dialogue on the role cultural differences play in managing community forests.
 
Speakers include Kathy Wolf, Ph.D. From the University of Washington, Dave Nowak, Ph.D. Northeastern Research Station, USDA Forest Service, and Sharon Bulova, Chair, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Advance registration is $60 person or $75 on-site . The conference will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Algonkian Conference Center at Algonkian Regional Park, 47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling.  4.5 Continuing Education credits available from SAF, ISA and the Virginia Chapter of the ASLA.
