TOPICS
Neighborhood Issues, Players, Roles and Leadership;  Revitalization Planning Process; Determining Neighborhood Conditions and Assets;  Developing Vision and Strategic Direction;  Housing as Economic Development;  Workforce Development Options;  Identifying Target Components and Potential Interventions;  Identifying Financing Strategies;  Acquisition Strategies;  Crafting the Plan, Plan Development and Resolving Conflicts.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
Planners’ understanding of neighborhood revitalization is now even more critical as communities confront increased destabilizing forces on their neighborhoods.  What once was considered as an urban core, inner ring suburb or isolated rural main street issue has spread to what until recently had been considered relatively healthy neighborhoods prior to the 2009 recession.  This workshop will identify key neighborhood components, both good and bad, and explore strategies and tools to reverse this trend.  Participants will conclude this two-day workshop by forming work groups to develop and present revitalization plans to their peers utilizing the knowledge gained.
