Crime Prevention through Environmental Design is the theory that, “the proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the fear and incidence of crime and an improvement in the quality of life.”  

 

This course provides interdisciplinary community teams or individuals involved in community crime prevention programs with information on how to develop and implement CPTED strategies to enhance community safety and security creating safer sustainable communities.

 

DATES:                      August 9th-10th

                                                8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

LOCATION:              Virginia Western Community College, 3094 Colonial Avenue Southwest Roanoke, VA 24015-4705

 

FEES:                         $125 Law Enforcement Sworn/Civilian; $225 all others

 

CREDITS:                 Police in-service credit 16 hours

 

 

SPECIAL RATES:    Early Bird Rates available until July 30

 $75 Law Enforcement/Civilian, $150 all others by July 30th

           

 

            REGISTRATION DEADLINE:       Aug 6, 2010

                       

 

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Law Enforcement Crime Prevention Specialists,  Public Safety Officials, Design Professionals involved in Planning, Architecture, Site Development, Landscaping, anyone interested in community safety and sustainability.
