Sustainability is a core ULI “Policy and Practice Priority Area” and ULI is uniquely positioned to foster new policies and solutions to address this expanding issue which are both feasible and effective. Focused at the nexus of energy, land use, infrastructure and real estate, ULI fosters leadership by identifying tools, techniques and best practices. ULI Hampton Roads is presenting a discussion on the merits of market driven vs. public policy driven sustainability practices.
This program will feature a keynote presentation by Andrew Seth, Deputy Director of Climate Communities, a national coalition of cities and counties that is educating policymakers about the essential role of local governments in addressing climate change and promoting a strong local-federal partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Following his presentation will be a panel discussion to include Mr. Seth, Randall Gilliland, Chairman of the Green Jobs Alliance and Vice President of SENCON, and Marina Phillips, an attorney with Kaufman & Canoles focused on environmental law and policy. The panel discussion will be moderated by Craig Cope, a local real estate developer with Liberty Property Trust, who has led market driven sustainable practice efforts at both the local and national level.
