Description:

Marstel-Day, LLC, an environmental/conservation consulting and planning firm, seeks an individual for the position of Analyst/AutoCad Specialist in the company’s Fredericksburg, Virginia office. The ideal applicant must possess:

·         a strong commitment to a conservation ethic and a strong desire to identify and support strategies for natural resource conservation, together with a commitment to use green, best management practices in the performance of their work; 

·         accomplishments in their respective areas and disciplines and must demonstrate a minimum of five years of relevant and current experience in the field, including  proficient use of AutoCad and ArcGIS;

·         experience working on a combination of projects in military master planning, transportation, planning, or asset management planning;

·         knowledge in project management and policy analysis together with working knowledge of relevant fields such as; NEPA, federal  real estate processes, compatible land use planning, Smart Growth and Sustainable Design and Development principles (LEED accreditation a plus; AICP certification a plus);

·         a Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in the field of their expertise, preferably in the fields of environmental policy, landscape architecture, planning or urban development, or other similar or associated disciplines;

o   or, posses a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrate significant and additional work experience equivalent to a Master’s in a specific and relevant area of expertise;

·         an ability to work collaboratively among team members, clients and external stakeholders, as well as to work independently in executing task responsibilities;

·         intellectual curiosity paired with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to make effective oral presentations; and,

·         proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and AutoCad and ArcGIS.

The duties of the Analyst/AutoCad specialist will include:

·         Providing analysis and management support for Marstel-Day’s projects and programs in natural resources and land conservation, water resources studies, compatible land use and smart planning, strategic communication, outreach and engagement plan formulation and execution, National Environmental Policy Act studies (EIS/EA, etc.), policy formulation and implementation, installation master planning, and strategic planning;

·         Assisting colleagues, senior staff and program managers/partners in responding to statements of work for task/delivery orders, and preparing project deliverables;

·         Independently, and as part of a team, applying analysis techniques and methods in the investigation and solution of concept, planning, design, or implementation problems;

·         Supporting management and program staff in evaluation and improvement of existing procedures, processes, techniques, methodologies, models, and/or systems; performs data and database management for specific projects. 

·         Utilizing required software – e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, AutoCad, etc. 

Duty Station, Residence and Other Requirements:

·         The incumbent’s primary duty station will be in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

·         The incumbent will be required to submit to a criminal background check as a condition of any final offer of employment.  Depending on the exact nature of the work needed, the applicant may also be required to submit to a credit and financial background check and be able to pass a Federal Government background investigation.

Salary and Benefits:

The company will pay a competitive salary commensurate with the incumbent's level of education and experience between $60,000 and $75,000; and will also provide access to a 401k plan, a health plan, disability, and life insurance, paid leave, and other benefits.

ADA Essential Functions Description:
The incumbent will normally work in an indoor, climate controlled work station or office but frequently required to travel to various other sites and/or offices which may not be climate controlled; to manage and coordinate work by scheduling and undertaking airline, train or vehicle travel. Incumbent will be required to frequently organize and coordinate schedules, research data, engage in fast-moving problem solving, communicate quickly and precisely with coworkers and clients in sometimes stressful situations, craft written communication including the use of e-mail and other electronic reproduction of words, graphs, and photos. Incumbent will be required to make regular use of and be proficient with computers, telephones, mobile communication devices, copy machines and printers.
