PLANNER II:  FULL-TIME

The Department of Planning seeks a detailed oriented, energetic professional planner to work primarily with development review.  The incumbent will serve as project manager, reviewing rezoning, special use, subdivision, site plan, historic preservations and other development proposals to ensure compliance with the County’s Comprehensive Plan.  Serves as a team member and/or team leader in self directed work teams engaged in planning projects and or plan reviews; reviews and analyzes land development applications; interprets and applies relevant ordinances, standards, codes, plans and policies; and presents findings and recommendations to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.  Requires a Master’s degree in Urban Regional planning, or a closely related field and 2 years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Planner I with Spotsylvania County or similar county; or a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning and 4- 6 years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Planner I professional level planning work; or any equivalent combination of training/experience.  A background or experience in historic preservation is preferred, but not required.  May be filled as a Planner I.  Salary $44,916 (Entry Level Salary).  Deadline July 8, 2011
