APA Virginia Membership Types

Regular Membership
Join the American Planning Association as a regular member. Your national dues include membership in the Virginia Chapter.

Student Membership
Student members of APA receive all the benefits of membership at a special dues rate.

Planning Board Membership
Planning commissioners and appointed and elected officials are invited to join APA at a reduced rate and receive enhanced services designed to support you in your planning role. Visit www.planning.org/join/commissioners for more information.

Chapter-Only Membership
Those who desire to make their community a better place to live are invited to join APA locally as a Chapter-Only member.  Chapter-Only membership is a reasonably priced alternative for those who wish to keep in touch with the latest issues, opportunities and events in Virginia of interest to those in all the various fields of planning: land use, housing, environment, transportation, and economic development. 

To Become A Member of APA Virginia: 

Regular Member: Individuals joining the American Planning Association automatically become a member of the Virginia Chapter. To join APA and APA Virginia please click here.

Chapter-Only Member: Individuals joining as Chapter-Only members may download a Chapter-Only Application here.

• Chapter-Only annual (rolling) membership dues: $50.00
• APA membership (national level) includes Virginia Chapter dues. If you are already a member of APA and intend to stay a member, you are already a member of the Virginia Chapter and do not need this application.
• Chapter-Only Membership and AICP designation: If you are member of AICP you must remain “a member in good standing” with APA which (among other things) requires paying annual APA, Chapter and AICP dues.  A Chapter-Only membership does not permit one to remain a “member in good standing” with APA; you would become a lapsed member.
