The Region 2000 Local Government Council and the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association (Southside Section) are hosting a workshop that features presentations and panel discussions on best practices and experiences from local communities on issues facing local governments, including water supply planning, historic & open space preservation, broadband connectivity for rural areas, and energy-saving initiatives.
The sessions are intended to be of value to elected and appointed officials, local government staff members, and citizens.

The workshop will also feature a walking tour of Historic Centertown Bedford, a Virginia Main Street designated commercial district. The tour will be followed by an informal reception at The Bedford Social Club, a fine dining restaurant on South Bridge Street.

The Bower Center is the white (formerly church) building on your right. Parking is available behind the Bower Center and in the Bedford Public Library Lot.
From Lynchburg via US 460:
Take the first Bedford exit (labeled Main Street). At the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto East Main Street. At the fourth traffic signal, turn right onto North Bridge Street. At second traffic signal, turn left onto Bedford Avenue. The Bower Center is the white (formerly church) building on your right. Parking is available behind the Bower Center and in the Bedford Public Library Lot.
